Princess Cays has been part of Princess Cruises’ Caribbean itineraries for more than three decades, but it is now disappearing from many upcoming sailings. So what is happening to Princess Cays, and why is Princess increasingly sending guests to RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay and Celebration Key instead? In this video, we look at the recent Princess itinerary changes, the history of Princess Cays, Carnival Corporation’s growing investment in its newer Caribbean destinations, and the possibility that the original long-term Princess Cays lease could eventually play a role in what happens next. We’ll also compare the replacement destinations and look at one very important difference for guests who purchase Princess Plus or Princess Premier. At RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, Princess Plus and Premier beverage benefits are accepted, although there are some restrictions depending on which area of the destination your Princess ship is using. At Celebration Key, however, Princess Plus and Premier beverage packages are not accepted ashore, meaning guests may have additional out-of-pocket costs for drinks even if they purchased one of Princess Cruises’ inclusive packages.
