Protest Blocks Barcelona Cruise Port, Coast Guard Airlift at Sea, & Carnival Clears Up Drink Perk
Carnival has cleared up confusion about free drinks for Diamond and Platinum members, with ambassador John Heald explaining guests automatically use their two complimentary drinks first unless they ask the bartender to save them. The US Coast Guard carried out a dramatic airlift after an 81-year-old passenger fell ill aboard Windstar’s Star Pride some 900 miles north of Puerto Rico, reaching the ship by helicopter to evacuate the guest and a nurse to hospital. And a protest over worker bonuses blocked access to Barcelona’s cruise port, disrupting more than 13,000 guests across four ships with some passengers forced to walk up to two miles, though all four ships avoided major delays.
