Southampton Cruise Port NIGHTMARE 😳 3+ Hours to Go Just 1.5 Miles!
Our Southampton cruise port experience was an absolute disaster. We tried to disembark Sky Princess around 9 AM and didn’t make it to our voco hotel, only about 1.5 miles away, until after noon. It took roughly two hours just to get through the disembarkation chaos, followed by an enormous taxi line that eventually convinced us to give up and start walking with our luggage. Thank goodness we DIDN’T have a flight to catch that day. The next morning, we had to get to Majestic Princess at a different Southampton dock. After seeing the taxi and Uber situation, we decided to walk again. What followed was another 1.5 hours dragging our suitcases in the sun over uneven roads, cobblestones and narrow paths. Our arms and shoulders were killing us, and I even tripped over the uneven pavement and went flying. Could we have gotten particularly unlucky? Absolutely. But if you’re disembarking in Southampton and have a flight, train or other connection to catch, our advice is simple: GIVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF BUFFER TIME. Southampton itself was lovely. Getting between the ships, hotel and cruise terminals was another story.
