My solo cruise on the Princess Cruises ship Royal Princess solo cruise has finally reached Fiji and I'm going to show you what there is to see in Lautoka. Fiji was the 53rd country I had visited and our first port of call was Lautoka, the country's second city. I decided to walk into town and explore on my own. Before that I took the opportunity to tour a bit more of the ship as Royal Princess was quite quiet during the day. Then I walked it from the port to the centre of town, which took me about 20 minutes. Its not a difficult walk, but it was very hot, so take a hat, sun cream and plenty of water. In fairness there's not a lot of touristy things to see here, its more a working city. And we were there on a Sunday, so a lot of the shops were closed too, but there were enough to get some souvenirs. Lautoka was a quiet, but nice introduction to Fiji, but my favourite part was the sailaway, not because I was glad to leave, but because you got a view of the spectacular skyline of the island's mountains. This is the image of Lautoka that sticks with me. But I'm not done with Fiji as next time I visit the capital, Suva.
