Ambassador Ambience Review 2026 — after spending 10 nights onboard, this is our honest verdict on the food, cabins, entertainment, service, ship condition, atmosphere and whether we would sail on Ambience again. This was our first cruise with Ambassador Cruise Line and our first time sailing from Tilbury. We travelled as two adults and two teenagers on a special 10-night France and Spain sailing which also included the 2026 Total Solar Eclipse. Ambience is a smaller, more traditional cruise ship and, at around 35 years old, offers a very different experience from the modern megaships we’ve sailed on recently. So how did we actually get on? In this review we cover our experience of: * Embarkation at Tilbury * Our Ambassador Ambience cabin * The air-conditioning problem that eventually resulted in us moving cabins * Food in Buckingham Restaurant and Borough Market * Entertainment, quizzes and onboard activities * The pool deck and outside areas * The incredible Ambience crew and service * Ambience after her 2026 refit * Signs of the ship’s age and areas we think could still be improved * The friendly, traditional atmosphere onboard * Our Total Solar Eclipse experience * What we paid for the cruise * Whether we thought Ambience offered good value * Who we think this ship will suit * And most importantly — would we book Ambassador Ambience again? We paid £3,500 for two adults and two teenagers for 10 nights during the UK school summer holidays, plus parking and our onboard spending. Ambience certainly isn’t perfect. We had a genuine problem with the air conditioning in our first cabin, some areas of the ship do show their age and the entertainment wasn’t always completely to our taste. But the excellent food, wonderful staff, relaxed atmosphere and traditional feel of the ship completely won us over. 🌑 Our cruise also included the 12 August 2026 Total Solar Eclipse, which we were lucky enough to experience at sea after spending most of eclipse day convinced the clouds were going to ruin it!
