Along the way, I share some tips about booking Disneyland Resort hotel packages, linking tickets and Lightning Lane Multi Pass in the Disneyland app, and making the most of the benefits available to onsite hotel guests. After entering Disneyland Park, we spend some time exploring Main Street, U.S.A., taking photos around Sleeping Beauty Castle and the Snow White wishing well before making our way through Fantasyland and Mickey’s Toontown. We use our onsite Lightning Lane redemption for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and also ride “it’s a small world”, one of our favourite versions of the classic Disney attraction. Along the way we share some Disneyland history, discuss recent changes to the parks and enjoy the unique atmosphere that makes Disneyland feel so different from Walt Disney World. Inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge we encounter characters from the original Star Wars trilogy, browse the merchandise and take in the detailed theming of Batuu. We also meet Princess Leia, explore the marketplace and enjoy spending time in one of Disney’s most immersive lands. For lunch we visit River Belle Terrace, a Disneyland restaurant we’ve never tried before. Afterwards we use Lightning Lane for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, my favourite attraction across all of Disney’s Magic Kingdom-style parks, before finding a spot on Main Street, U.S.A. for the Disneyland 70th Anniversary Celebrate Happy Cavalcade. One of the highlights of the day is experiencing Walt Disney – A Magical Life, the new attraction featuring the first ever Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic. We explore the exhibits, learn more about Walt Disney’s life and legacy, and watch this brand new addition to Disneyland’s anniversary celebration. Later in the afternoon we head to Adventureland for Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye before taking the Disneyland Monorail back to Pixar Place Hotel for a short break. After some rest and relaxation, we return to Disneyland Park in the evening and even manage to ride in the front cab of the Disneyland Monorail. As night falls, we enjoy some of the headline entertainment created for the Disneyland Resort 70th Anniversary celebration. We watch the anniversary projection show on “it’s a small world”, experience Hyperspace Mountain in Tomorrowland, and secure a viewing spot for the long-awaited return of Paint the Night. More than ten years since we last saw this incredible nighttime parade, it remains one of Disney’s most spectacular entertainment offerings. We finish the evening with Wondrous Journeys, Disneyland’s nighttime spectacular celebrating the history of Walt Disney Animation Studios through projections, music and storytelling across Sleeping Beauty Castle and Main Street, U.S.A. It’s the perfect ending to a magical day at Disneyland Park during the Disneyland 70th Anniversary celebration.
