During our Mediterranean travels, we stopped in Messina, Sicily and discovered one of the most stunning cathedrals. The Duomo di Messina dates back to the 1100s and has survived earthquakes, fires, and WWII bombings. Inside, you’ll find incredible mosaics, towering architecture, and elaborate silver devotional sculptures and reliquaries that showcase centuries of craftsmanship and history. Just outside the cathedral is also the world’s largest astronomical clock, which performs daily at noon. This is exactly why we love slow travel and always entering open doors. Sometimes a quick port stop becomes one of the highlights of the entire journey. 🇮🇹 📍Messina, Sicily, Italy Follow Laid Off Take Off for cruise travel, hidden gems, honest travel experiences, and destinations around the world. #Messina #Sicily #ItalyTravel #MediterraneanCruise #HiddenGems #EuropeanTravel #Cathedral #TravelVlog #CruiseLife #LaidOffTakeOff
