Cunard Queen Victoria Adventure - Easter 2026 - Part 1 - Embarkation Day
Hi Everyone, Welcome to our Cunard Queen Victoria Cruise vlog series. Today we start our day with breakfast in the Holiday Inn. The food was very good however it was very busy and there was a wait to choose some food items. We all started with some cereal before Emily and I had some traditional breakfast items. Tracy had some toast while she waited for some hot food items to be replenished. This did take a while but thankfully we were not in a rush to get to the ship. We left the hotel to take the taxi arranged in our room package to the port at 12.15pm as our boarding time was 1pm. By the time we had arrived and parted ways with our cases we were right at our Embarkation time. Embarkation was smooth and easy and within 20 minutes we were on board Queen Victoria! As we had some cases with us we headed straight to our cabin and let Emily do the honours of opening up our cabin. We were in an ocean view cabin and were really impressed with our room. This is a three berth cabin and offered us a lot of space which is always welcome! We then had a little wonder round the lower floors of the ship, and checked out the Queen's Room and Britannia Restaurant both of which were looking fabulous! We soon after started to feel a bit peckish so ventured up to the Lido buffet for lunch. Highlights for lunch included a fantastic roast beef and baked potato. We all enjoyed our lunch and the selections available. Afterwards you will see our full cabin tour of cabin 1009. We were really pleased with this cabin which was in close proximity to the ship's theatre and easy to get to the Britannia restaurant and most of the ship's entertainment. We then had a much needed rest before getting ready for our first evening's dinner in the Britannia restaurant. We had a delightful meal as can be expected on Cunard. Following on from dinner we ventured to the Queen's Room to watch the entertainment. This was a relaxed affair which we enjoyed until heading to watch the evening's theatre entertainment Davie Howes, who played an interesting mix of piano and trumpet music. We finished our day by visiting the late night buffet. Although we didn't visit every night, the late night buffet did provide an opportunity to have a nice snack before bedtime. Of course, the story of the day was that the Captain announced that our stop to Porto had been cancelled due to Storm Dave resulting in the cruise being delayed departure from Southampton. We show the port cancellation letters that are needed to claim for missed ports on your travel insurance if you have missed port cover in your policy and it is important you keep these letters for this purpose. We went to bed looking forward to a fantastic cruise and hope you can join us on our adventure!
