KOCHI JAPAN: YOSAKOI Festival, Fire-Seared Tuna, Sake Vending Machines & Craft Beer! 🇯🇵🍺

G’DAY LEGENDS! 🇯🇵🚢 Welcome back to Kochi, Japan Part 2! On my previous visit to Kochi, we explored Kochi Castle, the local sights and some of the city's fantastic shopping districts. But this time… we're doing things VERY differently! I've arrived in Kochi aboard Celebrity Millennium during the incredible Yosakoi Festival, when thousands of dancers in colourful costumes take over the streets with music, dancing and huge energy. From there, I head into the city to explore Harimaya Bashi and the Obiyamachi Shopping Arcade, before finally making my way to the famous Hirome Market. And this is where things get seriously tasty! 🐟 I try Kochi's famous Katsuo no Tataki — skipjack tuna flash-seared over a roaring straw fire, giving it that incredible smoky flavour. 🍺 I wash it down with a cold Japanese beer. 🍶 Then I discover something I absolutely had to try — coin-operated sake tasting machines, where you can sample regional sake from breweries across Kochi! And just when you think the day is over… I head back towards the cruise terminal to visit SOUTH HORIZON BREWING, where I meet Head Brewer Kengo Ito. Kengo takes me behind the scenes of the brewery, explains how their beers are made and lets me taste Pacifica Common straight from the vat! So I tuck into an amazing Japanese beef burger while discovering the story behind this fantastic local brewery.
