Passage to Aitutaki, Cook Islands!
Passage to Aitutaki, Cook Islands — 2.5 days at sea. ⛵ Underway from Maupiha'a (French Polynesia) toward Aitutaki on Some Tuesday, our Lagoon 450S. Life vest on, sails up, solar panels humming, and that mid-passage mix of routine and "please let the pass be kind when we get there." Aitutaki is a Cook Islands port of entry at Arutanga. The pass is unmarked, narrow, and only about 1.7 m deep at high tide — electronic charts are often wrong here, so it's visual nav with someone on the bow. We cleared in at Aitutaki and have not been to Rarotonga; still, every form and step matters for anyone planning either port. Navigation preview for the approach: watch "Aitutaki Pass, Cook Islands: Navigation Preview for Sailors." #shorts #sailing #Aitutaki #CookIslands #passage #Lagoon450S — Steve and Meghan, sailing around the world on our catamaran Some Tuesday with our pugs Colonel Mustard and Mr. Pickles.
