Queen Mary 2 - QM2 Verandah Steakhouse | $140… Why Did This Feel Like the BUFFET?!
The Verandah Steakhouse on Queen Mary 2 had a $70-per-person cover charge… and within minutes Michael was asking why it felt more like the buffet. Is THIS what you expected from Queen Mary 2’s specialty steakhouse? The tables felt surprisingly close together, the menu wasn’t immediately obvious about what was included versus what cost extra, and then our two steaks delivered two VERY different experiences. Andrea’s filet was exactly what she wanted. Michael’s ribeye had plenty of flavor — but definitely wasn’t the steak he expected from a premium dinner. But here’s where this review gets interesting. Some of the food was excellent. The sides were a home run. The desserts nearly stole the entire dinner. And there was one important value factor we haven’t ignored: on our sailing, guests who booked Verandah on Nights 1 or 2 received 10% off the cover charge plus a complimentary bottle of wine. That’s exactly how we booked our dinner, so we did not pay the full $70-per-person cover charge. Even with that deal, though, we still had to answer the bigger question: did Queen Mary 2’s Verandah Steakhouse actually deliver a specialty dining experience worthy of the extra charge — or are you paying premium money for something that doesn’t always feel premium?
