Accor Targets 20-30% More Hotel Signings in 2026 | Hotel Development Asia | IHIF Asia 2026 | Andrew
In this interview with Travel And Tour World at IHIF Asia 2026, Andrew Langdon, Chief Development Officer at Accor, discusses the group's record growth in Asia, the rising strength of conversion brands, and why Vietnam and Indonesia are leading the region's hotel signings this year. Key highlights: 1. Accor is heading into a record year for hotel and key signings, expecting 20 to 30% growth over 2025, which was itself a record year. 2. Total keys signed are projected at around 13,000 this year, up from 11,000 last year, a roughly 20% increase. 3. Vietnam is the most active market in Asia this year, accounting for an estimated 35 to 40% of all rooms signed. 4. Indonesia ranks second, contributing around 20 to 25% of key signings, with Thailand close behind. 5. Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia are all on track for record years. 6. A major shift over the past two years has been the rise of conversions, existing, often unbranded or independently run hotels being brought under international brands. 7. Conversion signings are expected to reach around 6,000 keys this year, compared to just 1,000 keys three to four years ago. 8. Conversion-friendly brands driving this trend include Mercure, Mövenpick, and Ibis Styles, alongside newer soft and collection brands such as Accor's handwritten collection.
