The Pros and Cons Of Stepping Up To A Luxury Cruise Line

We toured Oceania Vista to see if premium cruisers should make the leap to luxury. The food, cabins, cost — and what didn't impress us. Oceania Vista is the flagship of Oceania Cruises' newest ship class, and after visiting on board for this Oceania Vista review, we wanted to properly answer a question a lot of premium cruisers ask themselves: is it worth stepping up from a line like Celebrity, Princess, Holland America or Cunard to a small-ship luxury cruise line like Oceania? In this video we cover who Oceania actually are, what makes them different, a full look at Vista's cabin grades, the honest pros and cons of making the jump, and a first look at Oceania's next ship class, Sonata. Since 2026 Oceania has gone fully adults-only (18+), and every cabin on Vista is a veranda stateroom or suite, ranging from a 240 square foot French Veranda up to a 2,400 square foot Owner's Suite with round-the-clock butler service. The fare, branded Your World Included, covers all four specialty restaurants — Red Ginger, Toscana, Polo Grill and Jacques — plus gratuities, WiFi, drinks and free laundry, backed by a genuinely high staff-to-guest ratio that shows up in how quickly you're recognised on board. We also cover Oceania's itineraries, which lean toward longer port stays and overnight calls rather than the typical seven or eight hour stop. Here's the part the marketing won't tell you: on our visit, the food — while good — wasn't head and shoulders above what we've had on Celebrity or Cunard, despite Oceania's claim to offer "the finest cuisine at sea". The smaller ships also mean noticeably less entertainment than a big premium ship, so if production shows matter to you, that's worth knowing before you book. And yes, it costs more — though once you tally up everything Your World Included actually covers, the gap is smaller than it first looks. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 00:00 — Should you upgrade to a luxury cruise line? 00:45 — Who is Oceania Cruises? 02:00 — What's actually included: Your World Included 06:15 — Inside Oceania Vista: décor & cabin grades 07:45 — Pros and cons vs Celebrity, Princess & Cunard 10:00 — First look: the new Sonata class 11:00 — Our honest verdict 👇 JOIN THE CONVERSATION If you're currently sailing with Celebrity, Princess, Holland America or Cunard, what would it take for you to consider stepping up to Oceania?
