Icy Strait Point Alaska Without an Excursion | Free Gondola, Port Walk & Eagle Hunt
Today we’re exploring Icy Strait Point, Alaska, on a beautiful sunny day—with temperatures reaching an unbelievable 65 degrees! We started at Wilderness Landing before taking the free Green gondola over to Ocean Landing, where most of the shops and excursion meeting points are located. Along the way, we explain the difference between the two landing areas, what you can explore for free, and which transportation options cost extra. Since we have visited Hoonah before, we decided to skip the $20 round-trip shuttle into town and enjoy a low-cost day walking along the waterfront, checking out the scenery, browsing a few shops, and searching for eagles and sea otters. Did we find any wildlife? Let’s just say the first eagle we spotted came with a $37 price tag. 😂 We also share our honest thoughts about visiting Icy Strait Point without booking an excursion. There may not be a huge number of free activities, but the surrounding scenery is absolutely beautiful—and you do not have to spend a fortune to enjoy an Alaskan cruise port. For anyone planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Alaska, there are plenty of excursions available, including wildlife tours, whale watching, ziplining, and opportunities to experience the local culture. Choose the experiences that matter most to you, take plenty of photos, and make the trip your own. 📍 Icy Strait Point and Hoonah, Alaska 🚡 Free gondola between Wilderness Landing and Ocean Landing 🚐 Shuttle into Hoonah: approximately $10 per person each way 🥾 Walking route into Hoonah: approximately three miles round trip 🦅 Eagles spotted in the wild: still pending 🎄 Eagles spotted in the gift shop: one—and it cost $37 Subscribe and follow along as we share what cruise ports are really like, practical travel tips, and our adventures from life at sea. #IcyStraitPoint #AlaskaCruise #HoonahAlaska #CruisePort #RoyalCaribbean #AlaskaTravel #CruiseVlog #HarrisonAdventures
