Fourty Drinks; who's liable?
We discuss a federal court case where 25-year-old Justin Masse fell seven stories from a balcony on the MSC Meraviglia cruise ship and sued the cruise line for over-serving him alcohol. We break down why the judge dismissed the case, including the high legal standard cruise lines must meet, the complicating factor of marijuana in his system, and MSC's defense that he may not have consumed all 40 drinks served to him in 24 hours. We explore how difficult it is to hold cruise lines accountable in federal court for alcohol-related incidents and share insights from our own ongoing case against Carnival.
