Date night vibes. South Pacific style. #frenchpolynesia
Underwater lights on, feet up, cold drink in hand. Date night in the Tuamotus doesn't need a reservation. 💙 This is a quiet night at home on Some Tuesday, anchored in Fakarava in late May and early June 2026. Our underwater lights turn the lagoon an electric blue, and they draw in curious fish after dark, so the show comes to us. Fakarava is the second-largest atoll in the Tuamotus after Rangiroa: a near-rectangle about 60 km long and 21 km wide, around a lagoon of more than 1,100 km². Its northern pass, Garuae, is the largest pass in French Polynesia, and the atoll is part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Fewer than a thousand people live here, mostly in the village of Rotoava. More from our time in the Tuamotus is on our Captain's Log at sailingsometuesday.substack.com ("Cruising the Tuamotu Archipelago"). #FrenchPolynesia #Fakarava #Tuamotus #sailing #catamaran #boatlife — Steve and Meghan, sailing around the world on our catamaran Some Tuesday with our pugs Colonel Mustard and Mr. Pickles.
