Chest-deep with blacktip sharks in Bora Bora 🦈 #shorts
Our neighborhood swimming hole in Bora Bora came with sharks!! 🦈 Five hundred feet from our mooring in Bora Bora, the water was chest-deep and full of blacktip sharks and pink whiprays. Meghan took three trips to work up the courage. Then she jumped in. This was late July 2026. We were on a mooring at Toopua, in Tehou Bay, right next to the Conrad's overwater bungalows at five to twelve THOUSAND dollars a night. We paid about fifty bucks. :-) That sandy shallow was our favorite place to cool off: stand still, and the stingrays drift by while the blacktips cruise past. Blacktip reef sharks love shallow sandy flats like this one. They usually grow to about 1.6 m (5 ft), and they're timid and skittish, so they keep a polite distance. Every shark and ray in French Polynesia is protected. In 2012 the whole country became the world's largest shark sanctuary at the time, more than 4.7 million square km of ocean, and you can tell!
