Disabled people can’t have fun.
Disabled people can’t have fun. We hear it all the time. But the truth? Fun doesn’t have an access requirement. There's a big misconception, which I've never understood, that disabled people aren't allowed to have fun, or that we are somehow less disabled if we are seen to be out and enjoying ourselves. Of course Disability isn't always easy but we are just people at the end of the day; we dance, we laugh, we go to dinner, we go on holiday. Disability doesn’t cancel out joy, it just means we might do things differently. So next time you see disabled people out having fun, don’t question it or be surprised by it. Join the fun with us! Because yes… disabled fun exists. And honestly? it’s the best kind. If you’ve ever heard this myth, hit share or repost so more people understand disabled joy! And if you've ever been told you ‘can’t be that disabled’ when you’re out having fun? I'd love to hear your story in the comments If you liked this video find my full cruise vlog here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PqicOSIhNM&t=5s Video Description: An ableist character asks Jenni what she is doing out, and Jenni replies dancing from the dancefloor in a blue sparkly dress using her powerchair. The ableist then scoffs that if she can do that, she can’t really be disabled. Jenni responds with a group of disabled friends & carers that disabled people don’t just have fun, they bring the fun. The ableist character says: 'so you're telling me that being disabled can be fun?!' The video ends with Jenni and friends smiling and saying “Exactly!” straight to camera. #DisabledJoy #DisabilityEducation #DisabilityAwareness #Exactly #ChronicallyJenni Chronically Jenni is back with her weekly vlog series Chronic Illness Weekly sharing how she navigates life with chronic illness & disability.
