Will Royal Caribbean REALLY get your passport from the safe?
Will Royal Caribbean get your passport book out of your cabin safe if you miss the cruise ship in port? I’ve seen this advice repeated by cruisers over and over, so I asked Royal Caribbean directly whether it’s actually a policy passengers can count on. A Royal Caribbean representative checked with their specialized team and told me Royal Caribbean does NOT have a policy of retrieving guests’ passports from their stateroom safes if they miss the ship, and passengers should not rely on that as a recovery procedure. That’s important because Royal Caribbean’s own website says it’s best to have a passport with you if you have an issue while exploring a foreign port, such as missing the ship. The U.S. State Department also strongly recommends cruise passengers travel with a passport book in case an emergency requires them to fly home. There is a big difference between something that may have happened in individual situations and an official procedure you can count on. I’m digging into the actual guidance so U.S. citizens can make informed decisions about their passport books and other travel documents when cruising internationally. #RoyalCaribbean #CruiseTips #PassportBook #CruiseTravel #CruiseTipsForBeginners
