Today we're sharing one of our very favorite days of our 50-day Grand Mediterranean Odyssey aboard the beautiful Island Princess! Our port was Naples, Italy, and we decided to hire a private driver for a wonderful day visiting Sorrento, Positano, and Amalfi along the spectacular Amalfi Coast. I'll share what we did, what we enjoyed, and some helpful tips if you're planning a cruise that includes Naples. Naples is a wonderful jumping-off point for so many amazing destinations, including Pompeii, Herculaneum, Capri, Sorrento, and the Amalfi Coast. We'll talk about some of those options, as well as a few things to remember when exploring Naples on your own. In Sorrento, we enjoyed beautiful views over the Bay of Naples, some delicious gelato, and a little shopping for Italian leather goods and lemon-themed souvenirs. Then we traveled along the Amalfi Coast, stopping for beautiful views of Positano before continuing to the town of Amalfi. We had a wonderful lunch, enjoyed some delicious lemon pasta and lemon sorbet, and especially appreciated having time to simply walk around and enjoy this remarkable place. I'll also share some of our experiences with Princess shore excursions, including a wonderful boat excursion along the Amalfi Coast that we've enjoyed on a previous visit.
