Venice Experiences and Tips in 2026
Is Venice worth visiting before or after a Mediterranean cruise? We visited Venice twice, first in 2024 before our cruise and again in 2026 after our cruise, and our experiences were surprisingly different. In this video, we share what we loved, what we would do differently, and the mistakes that could cost you valuable time and money. We cover our gondola experiences, including a ride with live entertainment, visiting St. Mark’s Basilica, seeing the Rialto Bridge, using Viator for skip-the-line tickets, and finding our tour leaders in Venice’s confusing streets. We also explain why you should be careful when choosing restaurants near the major tourist attractions. The views from our table near the Rialto Bridge were spectacular, but the food was mediocre at best. You will also learn about traveling between Venice and the Ravenna cruise port, managing luggage, allowing enough time to reach Venezia Santa Lucia train station, and deciding whether Venice works best as a short visit or a longer stay.
