Freedom of the Seas Embarkation Day 2026: Our Royal Caribbean Adventure Begins!

Most people get off a cruise ship and go home. We got off Carnival Magic and walked straight over to board Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas. After six nights on Carnival Magic, Jor-El and I arrived back in Miami, grabbed our luggage, made our way across PortMiami, and started cruise number two of our 11-night back-to-back cruise adventure. This was our first day aboard Freedom of the Seas, and we packed a lot into embarkation day. We completed muster, explored the Royal Promenade, grabbed pizza from Sorrento’s, checked out the Windjammer Marketplace, and finally saw our cabin. And this sailing came with a first for us: our first-ever interior cruise cabin. We normally sail in balcony cabins and have also tried ocean view, but the price on this sailing was too good to pass up. Since I’m also testing Royal Caribbean’s casino program and seeing whether future offers could help us cruise for less, I figured this was the perfect time to see how we actually felt about an interior room. We also explored the sports deck, FlowRider area, mini golf, rock-climbing wall, arcade, Johnny Rockets, Schooner Bar, Café Promenade, and of course the casino, because this is where the Royal Caribbean side of my cruise-offer experiment officially begins. By dinner, we had already seen a lot of the ship, but Freedom of the Seas was definitely feeling very different from Carnival Magic, and we still had five nights ahead of us to really see how the two compared.
