Matthew Prosser talks about why hotels can benefit from a connected technology platform instead of many separate systems, and how AI can help both guests and staff. Key Highlights: 1. He says that over the last 10, 20 or 30 years, hotels bought technology in pieces. They started with a property management system and added more products over time. He says this brings complexity, with different integrations, development cycles and user interfaces. 2. He says his company mapped out a platform 10 years ago, made of interconnected products with consistent code, architecture and user interface. He says hoteliers can buy one product at a time and know they can grow with the platform later. 3. He compares the platform to a jigsaw puzzle, where the pieces come together over time. He says data is key, and it should move smoothly across a hotel, a resort or a group of hotels. 4. He says a platform keeps product releases, the user interface and innovation consistent, so hotels can keep coming back to the same company instead of going to another vendor. 5. He says that on a platform, AI is built in once. Without one, a hotel has to work with many different companies and systems and then maintain all of them. He says one platform is easier to maintain. 6. He says AI is an enabler for efficiency. It is not only for guest bookings like rooms, tables, spa and golf, but also for the back office and staff. He says AI is stronger within one platform. He says they do not advocate reducing staff, and that staff should be placed in a different environment because AI helps a hotel get better and better.
