How We Met 8 Disney Characters in 1 Hour (WITH NO LINES!) | Disney Magic Day 11
Welcome to Day 11 of our 14-night Panama Canal transit on the Disney Magic! The ship's clocks went back an hour last night, giving us a much-needed extra hour in bed. We kicked off our morning by rushing down for a late breakfast at Lumiere just before they closed the doors at 9:00 AM. I opted for the beautiful brioche cinnamon French toast, Ant went with an omelet and a unique side of chocolate chip pancakes with carrot and cucumber, and Matilda ordered the Eggs Benedict. Because we are on a longer 14-night sailing, the daytime activities are incredibly popular and heavily attended. I rushed over to the "Anyone Can Cook" demonstration featuring Creme Brulee. Even though I got there early, people had been queuing for 45 minutes! I managed to snag a single spare seat right at the front. The chef shared some fantastic history about how this exact recipe made it into the 2012 Disney food and wine cookbook, and the creme brulee itself was absolutely delicious. The rest of the afternoon was all about enjoying the 28-degree weather and the sea breeze. Ant and Matilda practiced shooting hoops on the sports deck, and we continued our ship-wide cast member flag challenge. We successfully tracked down cast members from Zimbabwe (serving coffee in Lumiere) and Italy (Viola in dining). We are really enjoying the slower pace of this cruise, skipping the trivia we normally do to just rest, chill, and do some much-needed laundry with the $25 bag offer before we hit our first tender port tomorrow. One of the biggest surprises today was the character meet-and-greets. We walked straight up to Mirabel and Bruno with absolutely zero queue—a massive contrast to the huge lines we saw for them on day one! We also visited the Disney Vacation Club desk and were pixie-dusted with a beautiful new, recently released print of Mickey and Minnie in a hot air balloon pointing to the Magic Kingdom. For formal dinner tonight, we headed back to Lumiere. We all started with the chicken noodle soup. For the main courses, I had an incredible cod dish, Ant enjoyed the steak with lobster medallions, and Matilda hacked the menu by ordering two portions of the kids' mac and cheese. Desserts were fantastic, featuring banana bread pudding, triple chocolate, and lemon cake. Afterward, we finally met up with the Paradise Falls family at the Soul Cat Lounge for drinks, where Matilda loved her Lollipop Jammer drink that came with a brilliant edible strawberry popping candy straw. The evening concluded with an unbelievable run of character meets. Because the queues were practically non-existent, we managed to see Mickey, Rapunzel, Tiana, Cinderella, Donald, and Minnie Mouse all in under an hour! We also took a nostalgia trip through the Oceaneer Club open house, checking out the Marvel games and Pixie Hollow, before heading back to the cabin. Our stateroom host left us a monkey towel animal and our tender tickets for Cabo San Lucas. Bring on the Mexican Riviera!
