Flying into FLL for your cruise? Port Everglades vs PortMiami changes everything

Flying into Fort Lauderdale (FLL) before a cruise? Where I’d stay depends on whether your ship leaves from Port Everglades or PortMiami. If you’re cruising from Port Everglades, the airport and cruise port are only a few miles apart, so you have a lot of flexibility. You can stay near the airport, 17th Street, or closer to Fort Lauderdale Beach and still be convenient to the terminal. If you’re flying into FLL but cruising from PortMiami, I’d usually continue down to Miami the day before and stay in Downtown Miami or Brickell so I’m not making that longer transfer on embarkation morning. If your flight arrives really late, staying near FLL and heading to Miami the next morning can make more sense.
