We visit the MOST remote town in the UK!
Join us as we spend a full day exploring Lerwick in the Shetland Islands after arriving by cruise ship. Lerwick is one of the most remote towns in the United Kingdom, and we weren't sure what to expect. Would there be enough to see and do to fill a whole cruise port day, or would we be back on the ship after a couple of hours? We were determined to find out. Starting with a circular coastal walk, we explore Lerwick on foot, taking in the harbour, coastline, headlands and some of the fascinating sights around the town. We also chat to local people along the way and get a glimpse into what life is like living in such a remote part of the UK. Back in Lerwick town centre, we explore Commercial Street, browse the independent shops, discover some local food and drink, and visit the fascinating Shetland Museum and Archives. We also discover Lerwick Distillery and find out about its plans to produce whisky in the future. If you're visiting Lerwick on a cruise, this video will give you plenty of ideas for things to do in Lerwick and show you what it's like to explore the Shetland Islands independently rather than booking an organised cruise excursion. We were visiting Lerwick as part of our cruise on MSC Virtuosa and arrived into the port by tender boat.
