Is the White Mountains Jeep Safari in Crete worth booking? 🇬🇷🚙 We independently booked this Chania cruise excursion with Shore Excursions Group – and we're taking you along for the entire adventure! From traditional Cretan villages and spectacular mountain scenery to a shepherd's hut and authentic local food, this was certainly a different way to experience Crete! Welcome back to our first ever Princess Cruises holiday onboard Sun Princess! 🚢 Today we've arrived at Souda, Chania in Crete, and rather than booking an excursion through Princess Cruises, we've independently booked the White Mountains Jeep Safari with Shore Excursions Group. This is our first ever excursion with them, so we're interested to see what the experience is really like! ☕ BREAKFAST BEFORE THE ADVENTURE We start our morning with breakfast outside at Americana Diner on Deck 9. We practically have the whole outside area to ourselves – such a peaceful way to start the day! ❤️ Then it's our essential double espresso from Coffee Currents before heading ashore to meet our guides at the Port of Souda. 🚙 WHITE MOUNTAINS JEEP SAFARI Waiting for us are two black Range Rovers and our fantastic guides, who are friendly, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about Crete. There are seven passengers in each Range Rover and our approximately 7½-hour adventure takes us away from the usual tourist areas and high into Crete's spectacular White Mountains. Along the way we experience: 🇬🇷 Traditional Cretan villages ☕ A morning coffee stop in Deres ❤️ World War memorial ⛪ Meskla and its historic churches ⛰️ Spectacular White Mountains scenery 📸 Incredible mountain viewpoints 🐐 A traditional shepherd's hut – Mitato 🌄 Around 1,350 metres into the mountains 🇬🇷 Therisso Village 🍽️ Traditional Cretan lunch 🚙 Mountain roads and off-road driving The mountain views are absolutely breathtaking and became one of our standout experiences of the excursion. ❤️ We also really enjoyed the traditional Cretan meal included with our tour. 👍 IS IT WORTH IT? We really enjoyed the excursion and would recommend it, but there are a few things we'd want to know before booking. We paid around £115 each when we booked our excursion in 2025. Prices can change and may vary depending on current promotions, so we'd recommend checking the latest price before booking. You also spend quite a lot of time travelling in the Range Rover. After our rather late night onboard, Gemma and I were struggling to keep our eyes open! 😂 We'd personally have enjoyed a little more time outside in the fresh air, but that's our preference rather than a criticism of the excursion. If you enjoy mountain scenery, traditional villages and discovering somewhere away from the usual tourist areas, there's plenty to love. 💡 OUR TIPS 🚙 Winding mountain roads mean anyone prone to travel sickness may want to take their usual precautions. 🚻 Use toilet facilities when available as some stops don't have them. 💶 Take some extra money for souvenirs and locally made products such as olive oil, honey and jams. 🥤 Water was included with our meal, but additional drinks could be ordered separately. 👟 Comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended. 🚢 NEXT WEEK...
