After arriving in Sitka, Alaska, on our 47' Nordhavn Trawler, what was supposed to be a quick stop quickly turns into an extended stay when we discover a problem with Escapade's windlass. While waiting for parts to arrive from Seattle, we explore one of Southeast Alaska's most fascinating towns, visiting the Alaska Pioneer Home, the Sitka Raptor Center, St. Michael's Cathedral, and some of Sitka's favorite local restaurants. Once the repairs are complete and the windlass is back in working order, we say goodbye to our friend Booth and continue our journey through Southeast Alaska. From Sitka, we cruise to beautiful Piper Island and Hanus Bay, keeping a close eye out for whales and navigating through fields of crab pots along the way. At anchor, we try our luck crabbing, enjoy a homemade bouillabaisse made with fresh halibut, and take in the incredible scenery that makes this part of Alaska so special. Our adventure then continues to Baranof Warm Springs, where waterfalls cascade down the mountainsides in the rain and we hike to scenic Baranof Lake. Join us as we tackle unexpected boat repairs, explore charming Sitka, discover remote Alaska anchorages, and continue our journey through the wild beauty of Southeast Alaska.
