Cruising Alaska’s Inside Passage on our 47' Nordhavn trawler, we leave Auke Bay in Juneau and continue our journey toward one of our biggest bucket-list destinations—Glacier Bay National Park. Our first stop is Swanson Harbor, where we slow things down with kayaking and exploring the shoreline by dinghy so the dogs can stretch their legs. Along the way, we’re treated to incredible wildlife—including bald eagles devouring fresh catches and a quiet deer grazing along the shoreline. From there, we continue on to Hoonah, Alaska. Visiting on a Sunday, we quickly discover the town has a slower pace, with most places closed—but still take time to explore, visit the local grocery and hardware store, and spot a kingfisher perched and preening. The next morning, we set out on the final stretch—after over 1,200 nautical miles, we arrive at Bartlett Cove and officially enter Glacier Bay National Park. Along the way, we share the water with massive cruise ships and take in the scale of this unforgettable destination. This is just the beginning of our Glacier Bay adventure—stay tuned for the next episode as we explore deeper into one of Alaska’s most breathtaking national parks.
