If only 1 adult doesn’t drink alcohol, the Royal Caribbean Deluxe Beverage Package may be a waste.
If one person in your cabin doesn’t drink alcohol, the Royal Caribbean Deluxe Beverage Package can get expensive very quickly. That’s because of one rule many cruisers don’t realize: If one adult buys the Deluxe Beverage Package, every adult of drinking age in the same cabin has to buy it too. This rule exists because beverage packages cannot be shared. Before August 1, 2025, some cruisers could call Royal Caribbean and request an exception if someone didn’t drink. Those exceptions have mostly been removed, although it never hurts to ask — just know the answer is usually no. Because of this, many couples look for other ways to enjoy drinks without paying for two unlimited alcohol packages. In this video, I break down several alternatives cruisers use instead: • Buy the Refreshment Package and pay for alcohol separately • Bring wine or champagne onboard on embarkation day (one 750 ml bottle per adult) • Take advantage of drink specials onboard • Pay à la carte for drinks when you actually want them • Add cash to your SeaPass account to control your spending • Splurge on an excursion or beach club day with an open bar For many casual drinkers, these approaches can cost significantly less than buying the Deluxe Beverage Package for both adults. The drink package is about convenience — but it’s not the only way to enjoy drinks on a Royal Caribbean cruise. #RoyalCaribbean #CruiseDrinkPackage #CruiseTips #CruisePlanning #CruiseAdvice
