In this video P&O Iona is visiting one of Norway’s most picturesque fjord destinations as we arrive in the beautiful village of Hellesylt and take a trip up the UNESCO World Heritage Geirangerfjord! Tucked away deep within the Norwegian Fjords and surrounded by dramatic mountains, waterfalls, and breathtaking scenery, this is another spectacular day on an unforgettable cruise itinerary. After an early arrival in Hellesylt, I take some time to explore this charming village before embarking on what is described on board as “the world’s most beautiful boat trip” the local ferry through the world-famous Geirangerfjord. The journey from Hellesylt to Geiranger is an attraction in its own right. Along the way we pass towering cliffs, cascading waterfalls, remote mountain farms, and some of the most spectacular fjord scenery anywhere in the world. It’s easy to see why Geirangerfjord has earned UNESCO World Heritage status and is considered one of Norway’s most iconic natural wonders. Arriving in Geiranger, there’s time to explore the village, soak up the incredible surroundings, and sample some local Norwegian treats before making the return journey through the fjord back to Hellesylt. To round off a fantastic day, we return to P&O Iona for a spectacular sail away through the fjords, surrounded by incredible scenery in every direction as we continue our Norwegian adventure.
