My Cruise Was Delayed by Bananas! 🍌 | P&O Iona Embarkation Goes Wrong!
My P&O Iona cruise from Southampton in December 2025 started in the worst way possible… with a delay caused by bananas spilling into the sea 🍌 This was supposed to be a festive pre-Christmas cruise to Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands, but embarkation day at the Ocean Terminal in Southampton quickly turned chaotic with huge queues and very little information. After an unexplained overnight stay in Southampton, we finally learned our cruise was delayed and our first port would be missed. With four days at sea, I explored everything P&O Iona had to offer, from festive decorations and Christmas activities to dining, shows and onboard entertainment. But the weather had other plans. We sailed straight into severe storms with winds up to Force 8 and huge 7-metre swells, making it the roughest cruise I’ve ever experienced. Only on the final day did the weather finally calm down and the open decks reopen to passengers but by then, the cruise had already got off to a very bad start. In this video, I share our honest embarkation day experience, what really happened with the delay, and what it’s like onboard P&O Iona when things don’t go to plan. If you’re planning a cruise on P&O Iona or cruising in winter from Southampton, this is a real, unfiltered look at what can happen.
