Haugesund’s Hidden Gem - The Incredible Rising Tide Sculptures | P&O Iona Norwegian Fjords 2026
Today we arrive at our final port of call, Haugesund, on Norway’s beautiful west coast. After being spoiled with fantastic weather throughout much of the cruise, we wake up to cloudy skies and it looks like our luck may finally have run out… Within an hour of arriving, the clouds disappear and the sunshine returns, providing the perfect conditions to explore one of Haugesund’s most unique attractions. After taking the shuttle bus into town, I set off on a scenic hike to the famous Rising Tide sculpture installation, one of the most unusual sights in Norway. The walk takes me along some of Haugesund’s beautiful coastline, with stunning sea views and plenty of opportunities to take in the scenery. Along the way I also visit the impressive Haraldshaugen National Monument, one of Norway’s most important historical landmarks and a tribute to King Harald Fairhair, who is said to have united Norway into one kingdom. The highlight of the day is reaching the incredible Rising Tide sculptures, a striking art installation that appears to emerge from the sea and has become one of Haugesund’s most photographed locations. After the walk, it’s time for a well-earned treat as I visit my favourite bakery in Norway, Cupcakehuset, before heading back to P&O Iona for our final sail away of the cruise as we begin the journey back towards Southampton.
