After watching countless cruise videos and hearing people talk about how much fun they were having on Norwegian Cruise Line, we finally decided it was time for the Neal family to see what all the hype was about! This week, we're beginning an entirely NEW cruise series aboard Norwegian Getaway! This is a BIG one for our family because this is our FIRST EVER family cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line. We've cruised with several different cruise lines over the years, but Norwegian has always been one of those cruise lines we kept hearing about. After seeing so many other cruise creators having an incredible time onboard, we decided to experience it for ourselves. And we couldn't have picked a better way to start. We're boarding the Norwegian Getaway in Miami, Florida for a 3-day cruise to Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian Cruise Line's private island in the Bahamas. And this is where our Norwegian adventure begins! 🚢 EMBARKATION DAY Our embarkation process started off a little differently than what we're accustomed to. The check-in and boarding process took longer than we expected, and we spent a decent amount of time standing in line. But despite the slower process, everything went smoothly and eventually we made it onboard. And once we stepped onto Norwegian Getaway Our first impression was how CLEAN, neat, and well-maintained the ship looked. The crew was extremely friendly and welcoming, and we immediately started getting familiar with the ship. One of the first things we did was head to our muster station and complete the required check-in so we could get that out of the way and start enjoying our cruise. After exploring the ship for a little while, we finally headed to our stateroom. Instead of the room we were expecting, we discovered that our family was staying in a Mini-Suite with a Balcony! And Dee was LOVING it! To make things even better, Norwegian had left us a bottle of wine as a welcome surprise. We dropped off some of our carry-on belongings, relaxed for a few minutes, and then headed out to explore more of the ship. 🍕 FIRST FOOD ON NORWEGIAN GETAWAY Eventually, hunger took over. We headed to the buffet to grab something to eat, and honestly, the food surprised us. There were plenty of options and we really enjoyed what we tried. But one thing immediately caught our attention: SCOOPED ICE CREAM! Instead of the typical soft-serve machines we've become accustomed to on many cruise lines, Norwegian had scooped ice cream with multiple flavors. And yes... That definitely made us happy! 😂 As we continued exploring Norwegian Getaway, we started noticing some differences in the way NCL does things. None of the differences were necessarily deal breakers—they were simply a different way of cruising. And we were ready to experience it. 🔥 THEN CAME SAIL AWAY... This is where things REALLY changed. We had heard all of the stories about Norwegian being a party ship, and we were finally about to find out for ourselves. Before sail away, we hit the bar and discovered something that immediately made us happy: YOU CAN ORDER TWO DRINKS AT A TIME! 😂 With our drink package, that meant we were ready to enjoy ourselves! But then the cruise director came out... And she completely changed the energy of the ship. The sail away party went from zero to FULL PARTY MODE! The crew was hyped. The passengers were hyped. Music was blasting. People were dancing. Passengers were getting on stage. Crew members were dancing alongside guests. The entire pool deck was moving. And suddenly we understood exactly what everyone had been talking about. THIS WAS A PARTY SHIP! The energy was incredible, and our first Norwegian sail away completely exceeded our expectations. We went into this cruise wondering if Norwegian Cruise Line really lived up to its reputation. After seeing the sail away party... We knew we were in for one CRAZY three-day adventure! We've got Great Stirrup Cay, more food, more entertainment, more drinks, more family adventures, and plenty more surprises coming in this brand-new Norwegian Getaway series.
