We SKIPPED the Cruise Excursion & Explored San Juan Like BOSSES! | Princess Cruises
Our first visit to San Juan, Puerto Rico as a family turned out to be one of our favorite cruise port days yet! Instead of booking a traditional cruise line excursion, we decided to experience Puerto Rico our own way—and it turned out to be one of the BEST decisions we've ever made while cruising. Phil hired a private local driver who gave us a personalized tour of San Juan, allowing us to explore the island at our own pace. No crowded tour buses. No rushing from stop to stop. Just our family enjoying one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean exactly the way we wanted. Our driver shared fascinating stories about Puerto Rico's rich history, culture, architecture, and traditions while taking us to some incredible locations around San Juan. We admired colorful street murals and original artwork, sampled authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, relaxed at the beach, and stopped whenever we wanted to capture unforgettable family photos. One of the highlights of our day was trying Puerto Rico's famous handcrafted fruit popsicles. These refreshing frozen treats are made with real fruit and natural ingredients, making them the perfect way to cool off in San Juan's tropical climate. Many visitors make it a tradition to stop for one while exploring Old San Juan, and after tasting one ourselves, we completely understand why they're so popular! After shopping through the colorful streets of Old San Juan, we ended our amazing day with dinner at the famous La Casita de Rones, a waterfront restaurant known for its lively atmosphere, beautiful harbor views, delicious Puerto Rican cuisine, and live music. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable day ashore. Back onboard the Majestic Princess, the fun continued as PJ and Phil explored more of the ship while Dee and Laiah relaxed. We stopped by the bars for a few drinks, enjoyed another spectacular Broadway-style production in the Princess Theater, attended a Motown tribute performance, and to top off an already incredible day... Phil even walked away a winner in the casino!
