The Banana Cruise reaches its dramatic finale as we sail back to Southampton through the infamous Bay of Biscay and straight into one final dramatic storm! With warnings of rough seas ahead, P&O Iona encounters some of the worst conditions of the entire cruise. Force 8 winds and waves up to 7 metres high rock the ship as we make our way north, making for a very memorable final sea day as passengers hold on while the ship battles the elements. To help lift spirits after a cruise filled with delays, missed ports and storms, P&O bring in some special guest entertainment. Actor James Nesbitt makes a surprise appearance on board, followed by a fantastic performance from Ray Lewis, from the Drifters bringing some much-needed energy and fun to the final days of the voyage. Despite the wild weather, we eventually make it safely back to Southampton, where it’s time to disembark and reflect on what has been an extraordinary cruise for both good and bad reasons. From bananas delaying embarkation, storms in the Canary Islands, missed ports, festive cities, and lightning-filled sailaways… this has truly been one unforgettable journey. Thank you for following along with the Banana Cruise series. 🍌🚢 Recorded December 2025 Subscribe to Cruise with Bob again next time!
