Copenhagen in the RAIN! 🇩🇰 Canal Tour, Tivoli Gardens & Disney Dream
What can you do during a cruise day in Copenhagen — even when it won't stop raining? 🇩🇰🌧️ Today we're exploring Copenhagen, Denmark during our Disney Dream DVC Member Cruise, and the plan should be incredibly simple: a canal tour, Tivoli Gardens, and back to the ship. Unfortunately, Copenhagen has other ideas... because it is very wet and VERY windy! We start the morning with room service aboard Disney Dream before heading out on our organised Copenhagen canal tour. Despite the weather making filming slightly difficult — particularly when opening the boat roof resulted in a waterfall landing on the unfortunate family a few rows ahead of us — we still get to see loads of Copenhagen from the water. Along the way we explore the city's historic waterfront, Copenhagen's former naval areas, discover the green kayaks you can use for free in return for collecting rubbish from the water, learn about the fascinating CopenHill waste-to-energy facility, and finally sail past one of Copenhagen's most famous sights: The Little Mermaid. After returning to Disney Dream for lunch — and another DVC Member Cruise gift — we head straight back into Copenhagen using the free port shuttle to spend the afternoon at Tivoli Gardens. Tivoli was one of the inspirations behind Disneyland, and it's somewhere Danielle has wanted to bring Paul for years. We try the historic Rutschebanen wooden roller coaster, which still operates with an onboard brakeman, experience several of Tivoli's wonderfully old-school attractions, brave The Demon, and discover just how beautiful this park is right in the centre of Copenhagen. And then something completely unexpected happens... While walking through Tivoli we bump into John Stamos and Disney Legend Tony Baxter, have a chat with them — and somehow Paul ends up taking photos of them using their own phones. That's one for the bucket list! Back onboard Disney Dream, we finish our Copenhagen day with dinner at Royal Palace and give our thoughts on both the city and Tivoli — as well as discussing some continuing issues we've experienced with the food and service aboard this particular sailing. Despite the weather, Copenhagen completely won us over, and we're already talking about coming back when hopefully Denmark isn't trying to drown us!
