Skagen Cruise Port 🇩🇰 Do You REALLY Need an Excursion?
Is Skagen, Denmark a cruise port where you NEED an excursion? 🇩🇰 Today we're arriving at our first port aboard the Disney Dream DVC Member Cruise, as we explore beautiful Skagen, Denmark. We've booked Disney Cruise Line's Easy Skagen excursion, giving us the chance to see some of the area's highlights without spending the entire day on an organised tour. Our first stop takes us to the incredible migrating sand dunes before we stop for coffee and traditional Danish kringle — where we also discover the slightly surprising history behind Danish pastry! Then it's on to Grenen, the northern tip of Denmark, where the North Sea and Baltic Sea meet. We learn about the changing coastline, the huge number of shipwrecks in the area and the remains of German World War II bunkers which formed part of the Atlantic Wall. And despite some absolutely ridiculous wind making filming slightly challenging, this turns out to be one of those excursions that massively exceeds our expectations! Once we're back aboard Disney Dream, we receive another DVC Member Cruise gift before heading straight back ashore to see what Skagen is like without an excursion. There's a free shuttle from the cruise port into Skagen town centre, making independent exploration incredibly easy. We wander the high street, find restaurants, shops and local artwork — and even randomly bump into legendary Disney animator Ron Husband at the bus stop! Back onboard, it's Pirate Night, complete with Beauty and the Beast, Mickey's Pirates in the Caribbean, another chance encounter with Bret Iwan, and Dani finally gets a photo with Jodi Benson! We finish the evening with the special Member Cruise version of the Pirate Night menu before attending Poor Unfortunate Songs, featuring an incredible collection of Broadway and Disney talent including Jodi Benson, Susan Egan, Josh Strickland, Nina West, Ashley Brown and Paige O'Hara. And after three days aboard, we're starting to understand exactly where the extra cost of a DVC Member Cruise goes... So, is Skagen worth visiting — and do you need an excursion?
