Are you done with Carnival cruise line? #shorts
Are You DONE with Carnival Cruise Line After the VIFP Changes? Carnival Cruise Line’s changes to the VIFP loyalty program have sparked one of the biggest debates in the cruise community in years. Some longtime cruisers feel betrayed, while others believe Carnival is simply adapting to a changing industry. So, where do you stand? If you’ve spent years earning Platinum or Diamond status, only to see benefits change or become more difficult to maintain, it’s understandable to be frustrated. Loyalty programs are supposed to reward repeat customers, and many cruisers feel the goalposts have been moved after years of dedication. On the other hand, Carnival argues that the program needed updating because so many guests had reached the highest tiers. When everyone is elite, elite benefits become harder to deliver. The cruise line says the changes are designed to better balance rewards while continuing to recognize loyal guests. The bigger question is whether these changes are enough to make you leave Carnival entirely. Some cruisers are already looking at Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, MSC Cruises, Princess, or Celebrity to see if their loyalty programs offer better long-term value. Others say they’ll simply cruise wherever the itinerary, ship, and price make the most sense rather than chasing loyalty status. For many families, Carnival still offers outstanding value. The ships are fun, the food is good, private destinations continue to improve, and there are often excellent deals. If the overall vacation experience remains enjoyable, some people are willing to overlook changes to the rewards program. Others believe loyalty should work both ways. If you’ve invested thousands—or even tens of thousands—of dollars over many years, you may feel the cruise line should continue honoring that commitment with meaningful perks. What will you do? Will you continue sailing with Carnival and accept the new VIFP program? Will you reduce the number of Carnival cruises and spread your vacations across multiple cruise lines? Or are you completely finished with Carnival because of these loyalty changes? I’d really like to hear from both longtime Carnival cruisers and first-time guests. Your perspective matters.
