Top Tips for New Cruisers
🚢 TOP TIPS FOR FIRST-TIME CRUISERS! If you’re taking your first cruise, a little preparation can make the difference between an okay vacation and an incredible one. Here are some of my biggest cruise tips for beginners! 1. USE A GOOD TRAVEL AGENT. A knowledgeable cruise travel agent can help you choose the right cruise line, ship, cabin and itinerary—and may have access to additional perks or promotions. Best of all, you have someone to call when something goes wrong. 2. GET THE MUSTER DRILL OUT OF THE WAY. Don’t put it off! Complete the required safety steps as soon as possible after boarding. Then you can start enjoying your vacation. 3. THINK TWICE BEFORE REMOVING GRATUITIES. The crew members work incredibly hard. Automatic gratuities help compensate the people providing your service throughout the cruise. Budget gratuities as part of the cost of cruising. 4. PARENTS—YOU’RE STILL PARENTS ON VACATION. Don’t take a vacation from parenting just because you’re on a cruise ship. Cruise ships are shared spaces. Supervise your children and teach them to respect other passengers, crew members and ship facilities. 5. MAXIMIZE YOUR DRINK PACKAGE. If you purchased one, understand exactly what’s included. Depending on the cruise line, packages may cover much more than cocktails—specialty coffee, bottled water, soda and other beverages may be included. Know the rules and get your money’s worth without feeling like you have to overdrink. 6. GET OFF EARLY AT PRIVATE ISLANDS. Visiting CocoCay, Ocean Cay, Half Moon Cay or another cruise-line destination? Getting off the ship early can mean better beach locations, shorter lines and more time to enjoy the island. Cruising is one of the easiest ways to see multiple destinations in one vacation. Plan ahead, respect the crew and your fellow passengers, and enjoy the experience!
