What is the best path to walk when you visit Petra @julescruisecompanion #petra #jordan
I’m still sitting here on my favorite rock in front of the Great Temple, just taking it all in. Behind me, you can see the Church of the Winged Lion, and just over the ridge behind that is the Petra Church—home to some of the most stunning mosaics you’ll see in Jordan. The easiest way to get there is to head right to the far end of Qasr al-Bint, then cross back over the ridge. Once you’ve explored the churches, keep going across the ridge a little further. There’s a delicate rebar bridge you’ll need to cross—be careful on that—and you’ll find yourself at the Royal Tombs. From there, you’ll pass the Corinthian Tomb, the Silk Tomb, and just peeking out ahead is the Urn Tomb. I love the way it all unfolds—one incredible structure after another—each with its own story and view. There’s something powerful about standing here, seeing the layers of Petra stretch out in every direction.
