418 Steps, Incredible Views & The BEST Meal on Iona! | Alesund Cruise Vlog Today we're visiting the beautiful Norwegian port of Alesund during our P&O Iona Norwegian Fjords cruise, and what a day it turns out to be! We start the morning with breakfast in the Pearl Restaurant before heading ashore to explore one of the prettiest towns in Norway. Following the famous green footprints around the town centre, we take in the unique Art Nouveau architecture, wander through the streets of Alesund and somehow spend much of our morning searching for a public toilet for our elderly parents! The highlight of the day is undoubtedly the climb to the Aksla Viewpoint. With 418 steps standing between us and one of Norway's most famous views, it certainly gets the heart pumping, but the incredible panoramic views over Alesund, the surrounding islands and the fjords make every step worth it. As if that wasn't memorable enough, we even encounter a rather stubborn cat blocking the route back down the mountain! After all that exercise, we reward ourselves with coffee and traditional Norwegian School Bread (Skolebrød) in a local café before making our way back to P&O Iona for lunch in the Horizon Buffet, which turns out to be one of our favourite buffet meals of the cruise. As we sail away from Alesund, we pass an AIDA Cruises ship and exchange waves with fellow cruisers before getting ready for the evening ahead. The day ends with an unforgettable meal at Sindhu, which receives a rare and unanimous 10/10 from everyone in our group. From the incredible food and service to the overall dining experience, it easily becomes our favourite meal of the cruise so far and one we'd highly recommend to anyone sailing on P&O Iona. A few final drinks in the Crow's Nest round off what has been one of our favourite days of the entire Norwegian Fjords adventure.
