The best path to walk to get the most out of a visit to #jerash #jordan @julescruisecompanion
When people visit Jerash, the first thing they usually want to do is head straight to the Oval Plaza and walk down the Cardo Maximus. And sure, it’s an impressive sight—but if you want my advice, there’s a better way to explore the site without exhausting yourself on the stairs. What I like to do is head across the top of the ridge first. That way, you can visit the churches of the twin saints—Damian and Cosmas—and from there, make your way over to the Temple of Artemis. After that, continue toward the North Amphitheater. Then, once you’ve taken in all those sites, you can descend gently down into the heart of the city, finishing at the Cardo Maximus and Oval Plaza. It’s honestly the best route to see the highlights of Jerash while saving your energy and avoiding too much uphill climbing.
