A couple of firsts with this port. First time we step onto the African continent and first time visiting Tunisia. Wow! After some research we decided to do a cruise excursion because the port is a bit far from the places to visit and we are unfamiliar with this country. On our chosen tour we visited Carthage Amphitheater, Side Boulevard Said Village and Roman Baths of Carthage. After a 20 minute drive, we arrived at the Amphitheater. Not a lot remains of what it was. Through the years it has been looted and neglected. But it is still interesting to hear the history and imagine over 30,000 spectators here. We then headed to the clif-top village with its iconic white walls and blue doors and balconies. Our tour guide took us to a couple of locations and told us about life in this pretty village, then we had a little time for ourselves and had some refreshments and a visit with a kitty. :) Last, but not least we visited the Roman Baths that were actually built right next to a Phoenician burial site. This was our favorite of the three. There are still a lot of walls and arches left and we could imagine how luxurious these baths were a couple of millenniums ago. And being right next to the ocean was lovely. Then it was time to head back to the port. Along the way we got to see what remains of the roman aqueducts. We were definitely glad to have taken the excursion and that we had a nice day in Tunis Next we get to explore lovely Palermo. And… we loved it! Thank you for watching. We hope you continue to join us as we travel around the world! #timetolinger, #slowtravel, #TatandSteve, #Tunisia, #Carthage, #Cruising, #MSCMeraviglia
