We decided to group two videos into one video. Our visits to Messina and Naples (Napoli), Italy. In Messina we had plans to take the train and visit nearby Taormina and its castle. But it was not to be. After waiting at the station for a while it was announced that the train was cancelled. We think they had some kind of strike. So on to plan B: Visit Forte Gonzaga on the upper part of the city. But plan B was a failed as well. The Forte is closed! Maybe being renovated? Regardless the views of the city from up there were fantastic. Eventually we strolled back down and got to see the famous Messina Astronomical clock with its seven mechanisms that in sequence engage at noon. There was quite a crowd and we enjoyed visiting the cathedral and seeing the clock show. In Naples we wanted to visit Capodimonte Museum and Park. To get there we took the subway and then the bus for 20 minutes or so. It is in the higher part of the city (you probably see a trend ;) After walking around the park with it’s many trees, flowers and works of art we visited the museum which it is housed in the former Royal Palace of King Charles of Bourbon. It is being renovated but most of it was open to the public. They have many pieces of art and armament dating from the 18th century. We relaxed for a bit outside and enjoyed the views of the city. After taking the bus back to the port area, we enjoyed a couple of drinks and some snack before visiting the Gallery Umberto I and walking outside Castle Nuovo. Maybe we will visit it next time. We are thankful to have a quick look at these two lovely cities and hope to return for a longer time. Our next port will be Livorno and we will visit Florence. Watch our next video and see how we were the very last people to board our ship! So glad we did not get left behind!!! Thank you for watching. We hope you continue to join us as we explore the world! #timetolinger, #slowtravel, #TatandSteve, #Italy, #Messina, #Naples, #Norwegiancruise
