Let's talk about whether getting a Jordan Pass is a good option for your visit to Jordan. First off, when you enter the country, you’ll typically need to pay a visa fee, which is about 40 JD unless you're eligible for a visa waiver. The Jordan Pass offers a few benefits that might make it worth considering if you're planning to stay a bit longer—say, three nights or four days. The Jordan Pass includes access to a range of sites, and it gives you the option to choose how many days you want to spend in Petra—one, two, or three consecutive days. Just keep in mind that your days in Petra must be used consecutively. If you’re planning to visit over multiple days, you need to have your passport with you to verify your identity, as they cross-check it each time you enter a site. As for the cost of getting into sites, it’s generally affordable—most places charge about 1 to 2 JD for entry. However, some major attractions, like the Jordan Museum, St. George's Church in Madaba, and Mount Nebo, are not covered by the Jordan Pass. That said, you can still visit places like Bethany Beyond the Jordan (the Baptismal Site) for a discounted rate of 8 JD, which is a little over half the usual price. One of the more unique perks of the Jordan Pass is that it grants you access to the Wadi Rum train, which runs a few times a week. It’s a 45-minute journey on a steam train that replicates a historic battle between the Ottomans and Arab nationalists in 1916-1917. It's a fun and educational ride, and it’s included if you have the Jordan Pass. So, is the Jordan Pass worth it? I think it’s a solid deal, especially if you’re planning to visit multiple attractions, and if you’re coming in for a longer stay. If you're traveling with kids, it’s even better—children under 12 get free entry to most sites. Personally, I often enter the country with a Jordan Pass, as it makes exploring the country more convenient and affordable. It’s definitely something to consider depending on the type of trip you’re planning.
