Tromsø, Norway From Above | Fjellheisen Cable Car Excursion
Come along with us as we explore Tromsø, Norway, and ride the Fjellheisen cable car to one of the most impressive viewpoints of our Northern Europe cruise! Our excursion takes us from Tromsøya to the mainland, including a ride through the Tromsøysund Tunnel beneath the water. We also stop near Tromstun School, where a memorial marks the site of the former Tromsdalen detention camp from the German occupation of Norway during World War II. The highlight of the day is Fjellheisen, Tromsø’s famous cable car. In only about four minutes, it carries passengers up to Storsteinen, approximately 421 meters—or 1,381 feet—above sea level. From the top, we get sweeping views over Tromsø, the surrounding waterways, islands and rugged Arctic mountains. The scenery is what makes this excursion special, and we’ll show you what the cable-car ride and experience at the top were really like.
